Paul Spriggs, avid plant explorer, photographer, mountaineer, owner of Spriggs Gardens Landscaping company, and current President of the Vancouver Island Rock and Alpine Garden Society will demo the art of building Crevice Gardens. Paul has learned the craft of crevice garden building directly from one of its innovators, Zdenek Zvolanek, of the Czech republic, and in the past decade and a half, has built many gardens in public parks and private homes that range in size from small feature troughs, to large installations. At Darts Hill Garden he will build crevice gardens in three specially constructed hypertufa troughs that will remain in the garden in celebration of the role the DHGCT Society has played in the preservation and development of Francisca and Edwin Darts garden.

The construction and planting of these three crevice gardens will take place in the Maple Meadows  in the upper section  of the garden. The Alpine Garden Club of B.C. will be holding their Fall Plant Sale in the Maple Meadows as well as a plant sale by the Darts Hill Propagation Group in their nursery.

Entry to the Crevice Garden demonstration will be by donation with a minimum $5 suggested.
