ANDROSACE VANDELLII
This is one of the finest cushion Androsaces and easy to grow from seed. It forms tight grey-green mounds which are covered with small white flowers in the spring. Unfortunately it does not tolerate our winter wet so needs rain protection.
It is best grown in a pot so that overhead moisture can be controlled.
In the wild it grows in tiny fissures in apparently solid rock. It is found in the Pyrenees and occasionally in the Alps. The rock is often overhanging above so that it appears it does not like to get wet even in nature!
